Sightseeing

There's always so much to see and do!

Brighton Beach

Brighton beach always looks so pretty especially when the sun is showing and people are enjoying the weather. You get a great view from on top of the pier!

Brighton Pier

Brighton Pier looks amazing in the day and at night. It's always busy and is a big tourist attraction. There's so many picture opportunities on and off of the pier.

Brightona

I took these pictures at 'Brightona' which is an annual bike show on Madeira Drive. Hundreds of bikers show up to show off their bikes and there is even a stall for the London Hells Angels! This was my favourite bike that I saw, custom bikes are amazing. So much care and effort goes into the detail to make sure your bike is unique!

Some more of the Brighton Wheel

These are shots of the Brighton Wheel from underneath.

Brighton Wheel

I took photos of the Brighton Wheel and experimented with the aperture as it was a really sunny day. Though some of the photos were over exposed, I think the light looks very effective and doesn't put the Wheel in a 'bad light', I actually quite like them. The last two
pictures have the 'correct exposure'.

Brighton

Having lived on the outskirts of Brighton for all of my life, I call it my hometown. When I've met people that have come from different places around England, but have settled in Brighton because of their love of the town, I totally understand why and makes me proud to live in such a wonderful place. Yes, Brighton is an extremely busy and tourists love it, but that's what makes it Brighton. From the Lanes, to the music, to the comedy and to the crazy and amazing dress sense of everyone, no matter who you are, you instantly fit in and the town greets you with open eyes. When I see Brighton photography it makes me smile.

Annie Leibovitz

This picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the front cover. Ono said to Leibovitz ,'You’ve captured our relationship exactly'. (basterda. (2011)). It really captures and reflects what a beautiful relationship the two had and how comfortable they are with each other. Though the picture is staged, it still looks very natural which makes it more effective. Photography that can capture the moment and relationships perfectly are really influential to me.

Panoramic Photos and Taxi Cabs!

I love panoramic photographs for the obvious reason that you can see so much more in one photo. Also, it gives a different view of the photo as well because for example, in a smaller photo of the left hand side or right, the buildings wouldn't be bending inwards.
Yellow cabs in America are a really symbolic piece of history like England's telephone box! I love the photos where they are highlighted and everything else is in black and white, it is really effective and takes nothing away from the city that never sleeps!

Effects

I really like photos with effects on. Not all photographs need anything added on to them, but some work well with effects. Maybe that goes against the pure simpleness and greatness of a camera, but technology takes over too quickly and I'm adjusting. Photos that have an obvious meaning in it always catch my eye, like this photo. The grass, the sunglasses and the luminous background already denotes summer, the writing purely reinforces it. It's obvious, but it's simple.

Diane Arbus

This is, 'A Castle In Disneyland' photographed by Diane Arbus. She is known for her eccentric and 'freakish' photography so when I stumbled upon this, I thought, 'Wow this looks pretty normal'. But, continuing to look at the photograph, I saw a possible twist. Disney is a wonderful and magical place to be at and dream of, but even the most perfect of places can also be dark and I think that's what Arbus has done here. The castle looks scary and eery. I find Arbus an inspirational photographer because she is so different and doesn't photograph your normal off the shelf photos.
